Yeah, 2027 or 2028 are my best bets
Maybe Nintendo still wants to have Sakurai onboard for a new game, rather than anyone else, and if so 2028 is more likely since Kirby Air Riders will have to be finished first
If not, then getting a new director to take the series in a different direction (or maybe just a less ambitious one) feels pretty 2027 to me

My thoughts so far on Smash Descriptiveterm are pretty simple so far:
Character Wants: Octoling with a fully unique moveset, Bandana Dee, Tails, Dovahkiin with Argonian and Khajiit alts included
Character Expectations: Octoling as a semiclone, Pauline, some new/marketing characters from Pokemon/Fire Emblem/Xenoblade
Stage Wants: Chemical Plant Zone (Sonic), Underworld (Kid Icarus)
Stage Expectations: The latest interpretation of World 1-1
Release date: Not right this second, but predicting a year sounds like a sucker's bet. It could be sooner than expected, or even later. . .but Namco does have a team distinctly set aside for this already. Like, what do you think Studio S is? It's at minimum in preproduction, it's been in preproduction probably at least since Air Riders left it. Now, what does that translate to? Who knows! This isn't Splatoon, where you can clock the team at two years start-to-finish each time consistently. But somethin's cooking. You can hear the spoons clanging against the pans in the distance.
And, you know. We're here. Forks up. Ready to go insane when the first appetizer hits.
