Video Game Book Club!

Here, we'll be playing through games together, talking about aspects of the games as we play them, and sharing unique perspectives that we may otherwise have missed playing alone!

Currently: We're gearing up to play Slay the Princess!

Slay the Princess can be obtained on the following platforms:
The game is approximately 3-5 hours in length, but can go up to 13-15 hours depending on how much you want to complete. Feel free to play as much or as little as you'd like for video game book club, but do be mindful of spoilers if you haven't played the game.

Since the game's not out on every platform yet, and to give time for people to buy the game regardless, we'll start Slay the Princess on Monday, October 28th. Do feel free to play ahead if you already have the game and don't want to wait—just be considerate and use spoilers when talking about the game for those who don't own it yet.

I'm looking forwards to lots of great discussions with y'all!

The form'll be open until Friday, so you have time!

It took me a hot second to come up with my game of choice, but I chose one that I think more people should play and that I think everyone will like.

I nominated a classic that's on a lot of platforms that I haven't played yet

The only games on the list I own are Signalis and 999. Both are pretty perfect for spooky month, so I might be down to join.

Also I have to express my immense disappointment at a "videogame book club" not being a book club specifically for videogame novel adaptations. I had my whole stack of S.D. Perry books ready.

If you want us to read a video game book hell yeah let's do it.

Ready Player One is banned though. That is my one hard no.

Lol all I've got are Resident Evil, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Nier Automata annnnnnnd... Perfect Dark. I think the only shared interest here would be Nier.

Would actually seriously be down though. Or more seriously maybe a manga book club, quick reads and all that.

know what fuck it i submitted FF1 and maybe the rando version

I'd be down to do the remake of FF1. Really love that version

Submitted a game I haven't played myself but learned about last week. It's very cheap, short, and is on Nintendo Switch.

Part of the idea is introducing people to new stuff outside of their usual wheelhouses anyway, would be a bit boring otherwise

If you want to edit your submission, just make a note of it on the form and it'll be an easy enough change.

If you want to stick with your original submission though, then by all means please do!

Well even though I'd love to play through Signalis again with everyone else, I actually submitted something I've never played instead to give me an excuse to play it. 🤔
