Next Super Smash Bros General Speculation Thread

i'm one of those fans i want him in so bad.... i would've taken him over any of the AC characters in game rn
Possible hot take incoming: I think they should get rid of Villager and adjust Isabelle moveset so she has the Tree down b and the the fireworks up smash and add Tom Nook as a unique newcomer.

What do you all think about the possibility of Ashley Robins getting in?

I am always an adventure game supporter but I'd need to finish the games to get a full grasp on how I would imagine her in smash

I've wanted her in since I was in middle school. Another Code is one of those formative games for me and I really loved Recollection. From a character perspective I'd absolutely love to see it. I believe you made a really fun moveset, or at least a few concepts for her? She's a tough one to translate but I think there's a lot that can be done there. Edward Mansion could be a really interesting stage with a lot of little traps and puzzles and a possible mid-fight transformation into the caves, but Lake Juliet's clock tower tickles that little part of me that loves clock towers in video games and in general. Thanks, Soulcalibur 3.

In terms of likelihood, I'd have said no.....but the fact that she actually got on the Nintendo Museum banner indicates to me that they did value the remakes somewhat, and that we could maybe get some bigger content next time around - though still probably not a character.

As for whether I'd like to see her, I definitely wouldn't say no! But in terms of Nintendo adventure game characters, I do think I'm more partial towards Kyle Hyde out of all of them. I just think he'd bring some really interesting dynamics to the roster

There's no specific character I want in Smash.

Yeah, you don't strike me as the type who would support anyone in particular. :mayaplush:

you know what they really should bring back, is break the targets
or even go all the way back and revive board the platforms

the one thing Ultimate was sorely lacking in was the side modes, even Smash 4 had some attempt at a break the targets style of game

They need to make it so that stage builder can also make Break the Targets and Board the Platforms stages.
If it's tough to make unique ones for every character because of the roster size then let us make our own and share them online.

One idea I've had when it comes to bringing back Break the targets with a large roster is instead of having each character get their own stage, maybe each franchise gets their own or each kind of class of character.

Like, they could have a Mario themed Break the targets that all Mario characters go to, and the stage is big and has multiple paths that work better depending on what character you use.

Same thing for Zelda, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, the retro NES characters.

I guess franchises with only one character (ie Splatoon and ARMS) that aren't retro NES could all share one and they could just pull a PSASBR and have a Break the Target stage that meshes their worlds together.

When it comes to Ashley Robins, I'm with Speed Weed in that, when it comes to Cing characters, I'm more into the idea of Kyle Hyde being playable, but I would be okay if she was chosen (and if there was a choice between the two of them, versus both being playable).

However, I'd love an Another Code stage. Specifically I'd love Lake Juliet from Journey Into Lost Memories, because of a couple of reasons:
  1. While I'd be okay with Blood Edward Mansion from the first game, we kind of already have a spooky house in Smash with Luigi's Mansion (though I wouldn't say no to a second, we have tons of stage concepts done multiple times in Smash).
  2. Despite the large amount of stages in Smash and particularly Ultimate, we don't have any stages that take place at a lake! No Lake Hylia, no Sinnoh lakes, nothin'. That's a pretty glaring hole that Lake Juliet can fill, and Recollection made it look very picturesque. The time of day also changes the more you progress the story, so we can see the stage both during the day and during the evening.
  3. Like Fly said, Lake Juliet also has a clock tower, so we could set the stage there as well if "next to the lake" isn't interesting enough. There is also a third location that looks cool but is kinda spoiler-y, mostly seen in the final few chapters.
Also I want this in Smash, either by itself or as a remix:

  • Yeah!
Reactions: Fly
LAAAAKE JULIET DOOT DOO DOOOOO

Yeah, I agree. If the choice is between Ashley (and D) and Kyle Hyde, I'll pick Kyle Hyde any day. I think his art style and ways they could draw from classic noir films for his combat style would be incredible. But Ashley as an assist trophy with a Lake Juliet stage would be awesome.

one of the most bizzarre "obvious" misses of stage building. Hey break the target stages already look like janky built stages as is usually lmao

Do you think another pokemon generation will come about by the time the next smash is here or do think we will get a pokemon rep from an already released gen? Also if so, who do you think our best candidates are?

Hmmm I dunno

We're still not that close to getting a new Smash. I wanna say we probably won't hear about until the second year of the Switch 2 being released), but then with how we're getting the next Pokemon Legends game in 2025, it seems TPC has maybe slowed down things a bit so maybe we won't see the next pokemon generation as soon as we think either.

I definitely think Gen 10 will be out before Smash 6 releases, and we'll get a promotional pick. But I also don't wanna rule out the possibility of two new Pokemon reps, with one being from Gen 10 and one being from a previous generation.

Ultimately I do think timing would work out more for a Gen 10 Pokémon, all things considered. There are exactly two scenarios where I can see something other than that happening.

1. GameFreak and TPCi are really shooting to release Gen 10 in 2026 to coincide with the 30th anniversary, and this results in the new Smash game coming out before Gen 10. TPCi probably wouldn't want a Roy situation, so their token base game newcomer is instead a popular Gen 9 Mon, like Meowscarada, Ogerpon, Tinkaton, Ceruledge, Armarouge, etc.

2. Gen 9 gets a newcomer, but not *because* it's a Gen 9 Pokémon...in other words, this is the Gholdengo Scenario, where it gets in because it's the milestone Pokémon meant to celebrate the 1000 Mon Mark.
