Next Super Smash Bros General Speculation Thread

Okay I was gonna say something like "Alright to celebrate the remaster of Xenoblade X everyone name some things from that game you'd like to see" but I realize there isn't really that much to talk about lol

The only viable character is Elma, there's only 5 biomes which not too much in the way of important setpieces, and I don't think many people have a Top 5 most wanted Xenoblade X characters to be Assist Trophies lol. The best I can come up with is asking everyone to scroll through the OST and find a cool obscure song you'd be down to fight to.

G-LOW-SF.S.K.O. in Smash would go hard. Or maybe z29ba2t0t1l301e17.

Noctilum by itself has like 3 or 4 different places i'd like to be a stage tbh tbh.

But TBH any biome that isnt primordia would be sick. (PRimordia is very pretty but dear god not in smash)

For ATs generic Skell i think would be fun, but i would also accept "Lin in a skell" lmao. Feel like Lao or villains could work here too. Dont ask me any of their names i dont remember.

Im actually not sold on whether i want NLA as a stage or not. I feel like it works but i feel like a 50/50 shot it's fun or boring as hell

I usedd to be a huge fan of like . .Waluigi and Isaac and shit. now i dont care (TBH that was bandwagoning).

As for characters I wanted but stopped that had nothing to do with bandwagoning, I guess Kyo Kusanagi. Terry being added kinda tempered me on him. (still like him tho)

Lloyd Irving for me.

Tales of Symphonia on GC was my absolute jam back during my teen years, to the point he was one of my most wanteds for Brawl alongside Isaac and Megaman.

But over time my interest in the Tales series dimished due to not vibing with the latest tales games I played (which were Symphonia 2 and vesperia, ESPECIALLY the former) as mucyh as vibed with earlier Tales of games. That and many Tales games past Vesperia all went to Sony Systems only for a while, and I never got a PS3/4.

As my interest in Tales of diminished, so did my interest in Seeing Lloyd join Smash.

Yeah honestly, Lloyd might be mine too. I loved Tales of Symphonia when I played it like 15 years ago but I never touched a game after that and Lloyd isn't in those anyway and removed from his game (and original VA) he really isn't the most exciting guy.

The biggest thing he irrefutably has going for him is dual wielding katanas. So basically he was doomed the moment I bought Xenoblade X lol

A lot of them. I think as time went on, my tastes just further developed and I got a better (?) sense of what I liked/wanted. Big example of this is Bandana Dee - used to be my literal number 1 during base Ultimate, but as I got deeper and deeper into more games, he kinda just went away for me. There was a point a bit later on where I'd really just throw my support toward whoever Looked Cool, and that also led to a lot of characters I wanted back then that I don't care as much for now.

Captain Toad. I'd still be fine with him, and any playable Toad in general, but now that Piranha Plant proved regular enemies from games can become playable, Shy Guy is my new most wanted Mario newcomer.

I used to be really keen on Toad back in the early 4 days. Then after Rosalina, a character who was a major Not Gonna Happen wish of mine, happened and opened my eyes to more possibilities, I realized Waluigi probably had a shot in the future and Toad got placed on the back burner.

After Sm4sh my copium for Ridley was exhausted and I reached the "it's so over" phase, I didn't think he'd happen so I settled on Sylux when Ult got teased and thought any leak talking about Ridley was fake on sight. Of course, we got Ridley and that took out my support for Sylux. THEN Raven Beak debuted in Dread who is the coolest motherfucker around and now he's the Metroid character I want most right now. Maybe Prime 4 might reinvigorate my lost support for Sylux when it eventually comes out.

For any Resident Evil enjoyers in here, which protagonist would you most like to be in Smash and if so, is there any equipment specific to the games they appeared in you'd like (kinda like how Chris in MvC3 has stuff like the LTD)

If they went with something basic like Chris/Jill, I'd like if they based it on RE1 and gave them the REmake defense weapons as a way to escape grabs, that would be funny. Otherwise, I think they should go the DQ route and have all of Chris/Jill/Leon/Claire.

It should be one of Leon or Jill.
Leon needs to be based on RE4 with his roundhouse kicks, suplexes and OTT action movie stuff plus the knife parrying from the remake. Honestly the UMvC3 mod of him is a pretty solid idea of what I'd want him to have but the Red9 is just a cool gun, please have it even though they'd be boring and go with the starting pistol. A flash grenade would be neat as a very limited tool to stun opponents too. Just give him some cool action stuff, knife parries and some cheesy quips (imagine if Smash was actually good at interactions and he could quip about each fighter lmao) alongside managing his ammo and grenade counts really.

Elma I guess
She's cool and I liked the idea of her before X came out. Then X came out and I was meh on it overall. Elma was still fine but it's hard to be excited for a character you like from a game you don't care for, particularly when you wouldn't like most of the stuff they bring with them. I wouldn't mind seeing her still but it's a very lukewarm "neat, moving on" and that's far and away the most interest I can have in any further Monolith Soft content by several country miles.

Rayman I just got less interested because he's kinda plain tbh, stage and music could be neat but as a fighter I can't think of anything that'd interest me in wanting to check him out beyond a classic mode run.

It's just a case of a fall in priority because capitalism sucks, I still want him a fair bit but he's an obstacle for Chief, Slayer and Fulgore now.

Oh! Another big one for me in this regard - Axel from Streets of Rage. Used to be one of my absolute most wanteds and someone I'd always push for on places like Smashboards, but as I got deeper into the well of SEGA properties, especially their "weebier" stuff, he kinda fell off for me. Nowadays there's a lot of other stuff I'd rather see, and if we had to have an SoR rep I'd pick Blaze

I hope the next game lets you use music from other series on certain stages again. Even if it's just a small selection of songs, it'd be nice to see that return.

My suggestion has always been that every stage comes with a pre-planned, curated music list like in Brawl/Smash 4, but you can add other songs from either the same series, the Smash series, or the "Other" category (You can remove them too, obviously). That way, you get more freedom than Ultimate while also avoiding having to scroll through 106 Mario songs for every Mario stage.
