Y'all ever had something where you've thought
"Damn. If i had the smarts and the time, i'd love to make in in depth research on this"
(sorry to any students out there)

You ever just want a publish a research paper? Is there some thing you feel like you need to know more at an academic level?

back when we watched that Wukong cartoon back in EXP i distinctly remember going "damn. this is so goddamn cool. Why doesn't the USA* have any cool mythology like this."

*Obviously there is a huge amount of native american mythology out there, but im specifically referring to the USA. Im sorry to quetzalcoatl.


and that kinda stuck with me. But we kinda . . do have mythology, in a sense. Like ok yeah we have Paul Bunyan, and there is a lot to say about mythologizing a dude who cut down trees to clear themn out . . .for a country that did a hell of a lot of expansion). But we've also mythologized plenty of things like the revolution and our Founding Fathers. Like I will go out and say that George Washington is an american deity. And I will stand by that.

Cowboys i think are also fairly mythologized as well, and countless other things. IDK i think there is a lot to go with there, even if we don't have a Journey to the West that isnt manifest destiny. Much to think about.

1. I had the demo for this game but I never actually got it, I kinda didn't care for the ingame artstyle although I really liked the concept of the game. Hope to try it again maybe some day.

2. As weird as it to see Washington and Lincoln and also King Kamehameha as Kami, its not too farfetched as many traditional Kami are Japanese human heroes and legends turned into deities, such as Tenjin the patron kami of academics.

3. Even western traditions have a similar apotheosis, the Roman Imperial cult not only saw the Roman Emperor as the head of the Roman state religion but after their death the Roman Senate would vote to make the deceased emperor as a god if they were deemed worthy of the honor. Neoclassical aesthetics and political philosophy was all the rage during the Enlightenment era and early American iconography borrows heavily from Greco-Roman symbolism in state buildings. The Apotheosis of Washington and that Washington Statue both callback to Greco-roman state religion iconography having state leaders as ascending to godhood or a generalized "spirit of the nation" upon death, depicting Washington in a similar fashion to temple depictions of Zeus.

4. Honestly it probably be in some fashion lol, I think it would be interesting to investigate the motivations behinds people participate in smash speculation as its a pretty unique phenomena, but also I have to say that the sort of group delusions that arise sorta makes me want to frame it like a Folding Ideas video.

I could make an essay showcasing my passion and joy for my most favorite game and what it means to me.

But as it stands, I'm just too lazy to bother making a essay of a research paper size or any other equivalent so

Seriously though, It's honestly just *fun.* Like people constantly dunk on the Gorillas scatting (i think that's the musical term?) on the camp equipment but i think that's fun! Gorillas messing with human stuff. I like the action. I like the tree sliding.

It's my favorite world in the Kingdom Hearts series lmao. Everything about it just kinda works for me. Hell also one of the most memorable villain deaths in Disney IMO. (Although it's pure shock value so a few still do better).

Really only reason it isn't higher is it doesn't hit the high highs of the other two. (Mulan and Lilo and stitch on the other hand are basically perfect lmao. I have nothing negative and only positives. . .kinda wanna match mulan again now dammit)

Had to think about this for a couple of days. Speaking for myself, here's my personal ranking:

  1. The Emperor's New Groove
  2. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
  3. Lilo and Stitch
  4. The Lion King
  5. Mulan
  6. Aladdin
  7. Beauty and The Beast
  8. Tarzan
  9. Atlantis: The Lost Empire
  10. The Little Mermaid
  11. Heracles
  12. Pocahontas
  13. Treasure Planet
  14. Rescuers Down Under
I looooooved The Emperor's New Groove as a kid, I rewatched the DVD over and over and over again. I wish more Disney animated movies tried being feature length comedies. I don't necessarily think it's the best Disney movie ever, but I have the strongest attachment to it out of any other movie on this list other than Lilo and Stitch.

For the longest time I never actually saw The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Unlike the other movies on this list (except Atlantis), I instead saw it for the first time as an adult. I was deeply impressed by how dark the movie was, but without ever feeling exploitative or edgy for edginess' sake. The actor who plays Quasimodo does an incredible job conveying his gentleness and kindness, his heartbreak and frustration in facing Frollo at the end is so raw and pained.

Lilo and Stitch was the first Disney movie I can remember ever seeing in theaters. I loved the antics with Stitch as a kid but now that I'm older I deeply appreciate how realistic and strained the relationship between Lilo and Nani is. I'm pretty sure the reason I liked Lilo even as a kid is that, like many other people, I saw her as autistic like me, before I was even told what autism even was (my parents didn't tell me until I was 13).

I don't have as much to say about the rest of my rankings, I really like them all, but after Atlantis: The Lost Empire my love dies down a little. I appreciate The Little Mermaid but it's not my kind of story, Heracles is the "lesser" Disney comedy compared to Emperor's New Groove, and Pocahontas is beautiful but has some obvious baggage to it.

For the bottom two, Treasure Planet is beautiful but I just don't feel much toward it, and Rescuers Down Under is the same but I'm also disappointed with how Miss Bianca is handled in it. That, plus the titular Rescuers spending more than half of the movie not even interacting with the white blonde boy... was disappointed to learn the writers did actually want to have an aboriginal boy but executives shot down the idea.

I didn't know about that about rescuers that's sad to hear, I'll admit I am partial to it because of I love the eagle scenes and I think Mcleach was fun as a villian. also I pretty much agree with you on Heracles
